like all great bands, tat have stood the test of time, Afterburn has too (tho only formed 7 mnths ago) has stood the test of time...and what a cliche might i add, as Ozzy Osbourne's "You can't kill rock n' roll!" has just started playing in my itunes shuffle list. So as i was bout to mention, we have a new member to the band, Shawn. He'll be playing the bass for us. Tho Ahmad previously played the fat strings, due to some internal issues, he had left the band. So naturally we had to find a new bassist, and like all most too coincidentally, i found shawn on S.O.F.T's forums...but due to a twist of fate, Ahmad might have had a spurr of the moment that caused him to make the decision to quit the band. but fortunately, after much persuasion, he has decided to rejoin the band, now as a guitarist. Leading to the current line up, Zephyr on drums/percussion, Shawn on bass/vox, Shorya on Keyboard/vox, Ahmad on guitar/vox, Adam on guitar/lead vox and myself on lead guitar.
And this line up was put to the test for the first time, last Sat. judging from that session, i'd say we cldnt get any better...im glad things are goin up hill. till then.

after much complaint by friends pertaining to my inconsistent blog updates, here is one finally. so of course, the only thing thats been on my mind ever since i screwed my results, has been the band and the music. so finally we have a name, we're now called "Afterburn" we think its decent enuf for a band name, im not goin thru how we ended up with it. so as for the band itself, we are all improving, at least thats what i feel. our first song is now complete, titled "Saving Grace" sounds ever better. solo fits perfectly in, adam has managed to add variety to the vocals along the way so the song doesnt sound as draggy as it used to. oh but most importantly, our second song, titled "Adam's Tree" is what i foresee as an epic single, not only coz of the lyrics but how it sounds and the meaning behind it, one never explored in song writing before.
so last sat, was one productive session, with us completing the song, and venturing into adam's tree. after which we kinda went out to celebrate adam's birthday. before having dinner at mutthu's curry, we went over to SGH to visit adam's grandma, who was admitted coz she fell. i hope she gets well soon, oh btw i feel mutthu curry is way overrated especially since i come from an indian background. try Karru's Curry at bukit timah near bukit panjang, way better food at more then half the price! so i'll leave ya with some pictures of last sat.

today was one of those days where u end up doin every thing alone and start to realize things around you that you normally dont when we have people around.
so skoo ended bout 11, was sposed to meet dhinesh to look at t-shirts in town, but he as usual ditched me (claimin he din wanna get the flu coz it was rainin) so anyway, had lunch, followed by my dosage of library nap and then gym (sucks when u go alone, look like a retard tryna act cool while doin bench press). so i left to outram park mrt, spotiswoode park to collect my pay! (which will go into the funds of getting a new multi effect unit for my guitar) yea so reached the place at 2 sharp. fuckers still having lunch, so the clerk is like *in a typical singlish accent* "boy ah, u comes back aft 3 o'croc, the accountant go markan hor," so i was like wft?
oh u gotta see this area, spotiswoode park, its like a row of colonial shop houses that have this ancient feel, with a some of them as make-do coffee shops that somehow give you the impression they might just have good food. and so they did, i purchased myself a meal which consisted of "satu kosong, satu telor dan teh panaas". i have to admit it was a way hearty meal as compared to a McSpicy meal, considering the fact it was probably 3-4 times cheaper. the setting was the post rain skies, sound of posh cars rolling over gravel and my glasses fogging up every time i sip the hot tea. so after the meal, i still had about 45 mins on my hand, so i decided to explore the area. i'll skip most of the details but i'd like to bring your attention that the tanjong pagar railway station was just at the back of the spotiswoode park. the station as you already know, belongs to our neighbors above us, and amidst the beauty of the spotiswoode park area, the railway station, unfortunately was an eye sore. i shall speak no further. thereafter i took my cheque and returned home.
the day is slowly comin to an end, with me playing my flight simulator X, i'll leave u with a screen shot of my final approach at Stika airport, off Seattle, USA. bon voyage!

PAUL HEWSON
there comes a time in life when u try to shape your "self" to the mould of another being. that being happens to be Paul Hewson, lead singer of U2. not coz im a singer or someone famous but its just that after reading his story thru the words of ANOTHER person has made realize that there's more to what we see in life. forget ur branded clothes, flashy gadgets and socially stereotyped personalities. there a lot more. dont u feel disgusted? juz waking up everyday to what? ur job, school or whatever life u lead but at the end of the day...ur accomplishments are just materialistic. No Point. im not saying, your're sposed to give up everything, but rather give up ur social distractions, its gonna lead u no where.
well, i've made up my mind. besides trying to fulfill life's aspirations, i will dedicate my soul in making this world a better place. because when you're on death bed, and god asks' you, so son, what have u done all your life, you think u've accomplished alot by leaving behind a fucking large amount of money u've earned and u had a gr8 family etc, thats when you'll realize that everything u ever did in your life, had always revolved around you and you.
so now ur wondering, what can i do for a start, i mean im no humanitarian. well i'll tell u...stop eating beef! did u knoe, that the amount of grain that is used to feed one cow that can feed 4-5 ppl, that very amount of grain cld have fed an entire village in some part of africa. there are many other ways u cld make a diff, search the net!
and arent those chain emails enuf for u?
i've drifted off my agenda, well yea paul hewson a.k.a Bono, is one great personality. well i gtg now, make a difference, make this life worthwhile.

Saving Grace
Ex Nihilo (axe-neeh-low), as the band is now called is finally some substance as today we made our first new song that is worthy of being in the average Joe's MP3. yes, it was that good, good enuf to be played on the air. the song title "Saving Grace". i composed it, we passion and turned out the way i wanted it to be. we haven done a recording of it yet but all i can say it has an epic old skoo rock feel with an influence blend of U2 and Lifehouse. here are the "so far" lyrics.
Saving Grace
why dont you leave your fight
so that i can be your grace
why dont ya come up to me
so that i can see your face
and this world, wont leave us
till we fade away
and this world, wont hear us
till we speak in shame
blahblahblah
why dont ya fall in my arms
so that i can be your shade
why dont your...smth smth
im sleepy, cant think no more, till then
